Norton in Hales Parish Council’s Best Front Garden Competition 2010

The judging for the Best Front Garden Competition 2010 took place during the evening of Wednesday 4 August 2010, when Andrew Humphris, Head Gardener, Wollerton Old Hall, near Market Drayton, accompanied by Parish Council Chairman Ron Lucas, inspected all the front gardens of the village including those in Betton, Brownhills, Ridgwardine and Bellaport. It was a fine evening and the gardens looked at their very best parishioners having worked hard to make them look so beautiful. Andrew Humphris was clearly impressed by what he saw and had some difficulty in choosing the winner. In the end he chose an overall winner who will receive a silver cup and a garden voucher of £30, a second and third prize winner who will each receive a garden voucher of £20 and £10 respectively, plus three Highly Commended and three Commended Awards. Each of the awardees will receive a Certificate and the winners will be announced at the ‘Celebration Evening’ in the Jubilee Hall on Tuesday 5 October 2010 at 7.30pm to which parishioners are invited as guests of the Parish Council. On this occasion Andrew Humphris will also give an illustrated presentation on “Wollerton Old Hall Past and Present”

The slide show illustrates some of the lovely gardens inspected around our parish.
