Big Snow (posted Oct 28th 07)
Photos from the "BIG SNOW" of 1964 have been very
kindly provided to us by Mrs J Noden, who says in her letter
that she lived for many years at Longfield, Norton in Hales.
She goes on to say that 'the snaps were taken in 1964 when
Norton in Hales was cut off and my ex husband had to dig us
out'.
Notes on the back of the photos are as follows

1979 School centenary
We wonder how many site visitors will recognise some familiar
faces here? It's now 26 years since the school celebrated
it's centenary, when everyone dressed up in period costume
to mark the occasion.

Freak weather conditions
Freak weather conditions caused short-term flash flooding
in Norton in Hales in 2001. A number of homes in the village
were affected. Two photos (below) show the extent of the flooding
which took place.

We need your contribution
This section of the village website is planned to develop
over the weeks and months to come. At this early stage, we
have included some photos from the early 1900's to give a
“flavour” of how this page will develop in future.
It is hoped that in time, we shall collect material that
not only relates back over the many centuries over which the
village community has existed, but also compiles a series
of more recent historical anecdotes over the last 50 years
from villagers who are still alive today.
Anyone interested to contribute to this section should contact
the website content manager, Dick Walton at 14 Napley Drive
(tel; 01630 654734). Also, if anyone has old photos of the
village available to be borrowed and placed on the website,
please contact Dick Walton.

A more recent photo of the village has recently
appeared in the Shropshire Star
