Every year we have a fundraising event known as the Penny
Race. For weeks we ask children and parents to donate their
spare 1p and 2p coins, then on a fine afternoon, the children
see how much of the snake on the playground they can cover
with the money. Everyone helps until all the coins have been
used up. This year we raised a total of £60.15 for school
and some sensible person had the very good idea of covering
the snake with clear plastic first so that those who counted
the proceeds didn’t have to separate out the gravel
first! It’s a super afternoon as there is room for all
100 children to participate alongside one another, irrespective
of age.
