The Green will open on 16th March and two pre- season practice nights will be held on 18th March and 25th March 7.00pm starts. The weekly practice session will now be on a Saturday morning 10.00-12.00 and we may even have bacon butties some mornings. This replaces the Tuesday evening because the Whitchurch A Team will play on that night. The Green is still available to use on a Wednesday night for those still wanting to have a game or a practice.
Any local organisations can contact The Club should they wish to organise a bowling afternoon for their members, we can provide some refreshments , games and fun. We also have some advertising space in the form of plaques which local companies can use to advertise their business for a small charge.
Facilities The village is lucky to boast an immaculate crown-green bowling facility next to the sports field, with a well-appointed and fully-equipped club house (known by Members as the “Wendy House”) alongside. The green is open normally from around Easter until the end of September. Members of the club have coached children from the village school in the skills of Crown Green Bowls for the last 15 years, 3 of whom now play bowls for Shropshire County.
Leagues As well as being available for social bowls, the club also has a number of teams entered in the local leagues, respectively;
The Market Drayton League (A team plays Friday evening, B team plays Monday evening).
The Whitchurch League (A team plays Tuesday evening, B team plays Thursday evening).
The Market Drayton Senior Citizens League (team plays Wednesday afternoons).
Competitions Club competitions are run throughout the summer, usually on Sunday afternoons. All Members and their guests are welcome to have a go. The competitions are;
Dave Parton Challenge Cup
Brian Marchant Memorial Trophy
Keaystone Ladies and Gents individual competitions
Wendy House Cup (played throughout the season)
